Q: What is an AFMC Advocate?
A: Anyone who signs up as an AFMC Advocate will be added to a private list for the expressed purpose of putting out the word about AZ legislative activity that could directly affect our ability to revitalize the multimedia production industries in Arizona.
Q: Who has access to my information?
A: The information you provide is made available to the Board of the Arizona Film & Media Coalition (AFMC), to any AFMC sub-committee needing that information for purposes of contacting you, and to our lobbyists at the Capital who need your help to promote new legislation to support the industry. Your information will not be shared with the general public without your permission.
Q: Will I be solicited for donations?
A: Advocates are not expected to donate money. Rather we hope you will donate your time to perform tasks like spreading news through social media and personal contact, or leading letter-writing campaigns to your legislators, or participating in rallies or fund-raisers. While we welcome donations from everyone, we feel that by building a strong group of AFMC Advocates, we can make positive changes at the State Capital by virtue of our sheer numbers.
Q: How and when will I be contacted?
A: You will be contacted using the contact information you supplied on the Advocate sign-up page. You may be contacted individually, or as part of a mass mailing. As we develop our multifaceted plan to implement positive changes to our industry, you will be contacted to aid in that effort. Be sure to keep informed via the AFMC Facebook page.
Q: Whay are my obligations as an AFMC Advocate?
A: As an AFMC Advocate, you're under no obligation to do anything. We hope that when the time comes, you'll be available to participate in our efforts. However, we understand that you have your own priorities and you can always say "no" if you're not available when we call. If, for instance, spreading the word on social media by sharing a news story is all you can do, then we absolutely appreciate that effort.
Q: Why do you need my home address?
A: First, and most important, your home address is the way we verify your legislative district -- especially if you leave the legislative district field blank on the form. This information ties you directly to the legislators who represent you. The second reason is that we may send out mailings related to the activities you sign up for. It's just another level of contact that we appreciate that you're willing to share with us.
Q: Why do you ask about my political preference?
A: Our cause is not party-specific. However, there may be opportunities for you to help promote us at events that may be specific to certain political groups. In that case, we'd like to choose the advocates who would most closely identify with with those groups. There is no other reason for that information, and it's completely optional. The same applies to the question of your legislative district.
Q: What do I do if I'm no longer available to participate? There's no "delete" option on the AFMC Advocate page.
A: The list of advocates is copied to a separate database not connected to this website. So deleting your name here would not be sufficient.
If you want to be removed, send an email message to webmaster_at_azfilmandmedia_dot_org. You can use the preformatted message link here. Be sure to include the email address associated with your original AFMC Advocate sign-up.
Q: What if my contact information changes? There's no "update" option on the Advocate page.
A: The list of advocates is copied to a separate database not connected to this website. So updating your information here would not be sufficient.
If your email address has changed, start by adding yourself as a new AFMC Advocate. Then, you'll want to removed your old information. Send an email message to webmaster_at_azfilmandmedia_dot_org. You can use the preformatted message link here. Be sure to include the email address associated with your old AFMC Advocate sign-up.
If you want to change any other piece of information, find a link under the email address field of the Advocate sign-up page. Click it and you will receive a special link via email that will take you into update mode on that same webpage.
